The biggest task is removing the baseboard and door trim. Don't try to save it as it will self-destruct in the removal process. You probably want to change it anyway as it gets beaten up over time and even a fresh coat of paint won't hide the dents and scratches. This is a good time to install a trim upgrade rather than reinstalling the standard 2 inch colonial or clam shell style trims that most contractors install. Go for the wider and more decorative trim. It cost a little more but is well worth it.
If you have trim that overlaps the hard wood you will have to remove that as well. This is pretty easy if you bought the molding pry bar. Simply pry it up and remove the finishing nails. Once you are done with all of this you are left with your wood floor and you are ready for the real fun.
*Note** I had some problems because in some of my dents in the floor I wasn't getting all the shine off the floor in every place. But as I went to the finer sandpaper it got almost all of this off.

Whats that you say you would rather have someone else do it is that it? I have said it before myself. I would rather save myself the frustration and prevent the act of bringing myself that much closer to hell by letting someone else do it..!! (Whatever IT is at the time.) Like a lot of people, I can carry on like a sailor without a boat, and I know that being in that state isnt good for my health. Get someone who knows what to do..!!
Step Five: Place the sander along one side of a wall and turn on the sander, start moving the sander along the floor following the grain of the wood. The sander can be pushed or pulled across the floor as long as you use smooth even strokes and always keep the sander in motion. If you were to let the sander sit in one place too long, it will leave a grove in the wood that will be impossible to remove. After you have started sanding the floor, make sure that you make 2-3 passes on each strip to ensure the removal of all the old varnish.
An extremely important factor in your decision and quite possibly one of the most important when it comes to a pleasurable remodeling experience, is the personality of the contractor you choose. This person will be in and out of your home and maybe even have access to it at times while you are out and away from home. You are going to be seeing a great deal of your new contractor for at least a few weeks or more, (possibly), and you should be comfortable with that person. It stands to good reason that the stress and hassle of remodeling in itself will be easier if you are compatible with, and actually like the person who is doing the work for you.
